WILLIAM P. IMMER
William P. Immer is interested in recycling Antique or Vintage objects and images that he sources from periodic auctions near and far. In his works his concept remains much the same throughout. He wants to translate these ‘old’ pieces into some type of new meaning by transforming them visually. The challenge for Immer is to create something new that does not erase or particularly deface the original essence that is still inherent in the older piece, whether it be a photograph, a painting, or an object of some kind. Instead, he wants to enhance the older piece and give it new visual impetus and possible meaning. In his series of ‘translated’ works, the artist takes formal photographs, vintage prints, or actual vintage paintings and sculptures and reinterprets these pieces by presenting them with ‘careful editing and additions’ as the artist says.
